Re:

I am tempted to replace my exisitng T31 TS with another, but I am worried that I may get a lemon. Especially since mine has no problem with excessive oil blowback. No provent type filter fitted as yet.

However if they bring out the TL without the sunroof, i'd buy it tomorrow without much thought. Or give the option of a few of the TL extras in to the TS without charging as much as they would now.

Yeah, they need something in the middle of the range like the ST-L is currently available in the petrol range between the ST and Ti.

4 cameras are awesome.
Pity that unit looks like something out of the '80s. Lame.

Re:

If these 4 cameras get hooked-up to an aftermarket unit with a much larger screen/monitor then I agree that their use and full potential will be awesome indeed, but I reckon looking at what these 4 cameras are displaying on this tiny screen is a "safety risk" emoticon

Re:

I think the cameras are more of a danger than not having one. I prefer a audible alert, and visually check over my shoulders for obstructions and oncoming hazards (which can be out of camera range).

The fact that you are looking at the camera (AND relying on it) poses a significant risk for situational awareness.

Re:

What would be better is if you could focus one or two camera at a time just by touching the corner of the screen corresponding to the camera needed.

That way you wouldn't have too much unnecessary info pouring out at you. A quick glance every now and then would be sufficient for the job on top of good old fashion looking out the window.

Where would the side cameras be mounted. If under the sill it would not be a good place to go bush with.

Re:

Get rear sensors to go with the 4 camera setup and it would be decent.

Or there might be a way to get each camera to appear on the screen 1 at a time?

Re: 2012 T31 X-Trail Models Feature Variations (Series 5)

I am looking at the Series 5 now and trying to work out if I want the 4 cameras or not (and get the series 4 instead with the eclipse unit). I really don't like the unit in the dash. Does anyone know if this will work with the eclipse units? Having a quick look at one the other day it seems that the camera button is actually near the hand brake. That is making me wonder if the 4 way camera system is a separate bit of hardware and is a simple reversing camera plug in the back of the unit. In this case you would think it would work with another unit right?

Has anyone had a chance to have a look at the wiring of it?
