Re: DRLs (Daytime Running Lights)

These were the only ones like it on the shelf and they hurt to look at...but I looked on aerpro's website and they seem to make another claiming to be "double brightness".... I think it had something in the order of 32 LEDs instead of these with 24. The model was DTRL 220D...these ones are the DTRL 220

Thanks Tony,

Considering I already have LEDs at the top in the headlights, locating the DRLs at the bottom seemed like the most logical place and the lower black section of the bumper masks the black LED strips quite nicely, so they don't stand out that much at all.

The wire is being fed behind the wheel arch and up into the engine bay.

Hello jalalski , i have the same extrail as you but the leds in the headlight are not leds they are just normal bulbs. I would like to just have them as leds can you tell me how i can make them into leds thanks.

Hi Reg,

Refer to THIS thread which talks about converting the parkers for the T31 Series 3 and 4 from standard bulb to an LED bulb and use that thread to ask follow-up questions if needed.

Hi Jalal,

Are they legal to use here in Aust at night or only day time like in the UK?

Can't remember where I read it sorry, google should help emoticon

Daytime running lights (DRL's) MUST be wired so they only come on when the car is started, & turn off when the car (read engine) is stopped, or fog lights are switched on, and/or parkers/headlights are switched on.
With the exception of brake, blinker/indicator and hazard lights, no other lights of the vehicle are allowed to operate while DRL's are on & visa versa!

Re:

Thanks for that Bob.

I also found THIS information on DRLs in Australia.

I should re-wire mine to come-on with the ignition only and independant from the parkers.

Re: Re:

Hi Jalal,
Have you re-wired your DRL's into your ignition yet instead of the parkers? Do you have any info on how to do that?
Thanks

Re:

Would this make the DRLs switch-off when I turn the headlights/parkers on? as this is what I also want to achieve and I think this is the way it is configured on the European cars.

Re: DRLs (Daytime Running Lights)

Yes Jalal it would. It makes them operate exactly as the euro cars and the ACRS link you gave previously.

With the lights (parkers) off, power to the DRLs is fed from an ignition wire (not the accessories or directly from the battery) through the normally-closed contact of the relay so the DRLs would not be on unless the engine was running.

The wire from the lights circuit (parkers) would then energise the relay and open the normally-closed contact which is feeding the ignition power to the DRLs thus turning them off.
