Yep, 50 bucks. Rip off but it looks so much better than the stupid hole from autobarn! Had to order it in but should be there by the time I finish work this afternoon!

I am thinking about pulling out the stock radio/ cd stacker in the Exy and swapping it for a new DAB+ enabled system.

On a tangent somewhat, don't forget to include a good quality aerial when buying a DAB radio. Internal window mount has it's limits, you need an external mount for vastly improved reception.

I have one of these which is great:

Although in the UK, they will usually ship to Aus for the price you see, as no UK tax is payable, they put that saving towards postage.

Re: Changing the stock radio / cd player

DAB works on different frequencies so it needs a separate antenna.
You might want to check if the english DAB system is the same as here in Australia as the antennae might be a bit different.

Re: Changing the stock radio / cd player

Frequencies and thus aerials are the same here as the UK, the only difference between DAB and DAB+ is the codec used.

As I mentioned above, I have a glass mount aerial from the UK and it works very well. I have had a number of DAB+ radios and the aerial makes a huge difference.

You will find that a DAB+ radio will have 2 separate aerial connections on the rear, they are very different & not interchangeable.

I have had a mag mount which worked well, but the cable mounting wasn't so good as it had to find its way into the car from outside, routing through the door aperture and under the door seal wasn't ideal as the cable was crushed/kinked.

Re:

Thanks for all the information everyone.

And yes Woosydiver, you do have to have a different aerial, so that option is not for me...

After speaking with a few different techies about this, it seems that digital radio really isn't taking off here in OZ. The local installer says he can not even remember the last time he sold a DAB radio.

So I have decided just to go with a new Alpine with dual USB connections. I would rather listen to my own stuff anyway..

Cheers all,
David
