posticon Front Strut Bar

Hello,

I'm looking at the front strut bar and the pictures. I have a 2008 T31 diesel. I note that the bar goes over the air filter box. Can the air filter still be accessed when the bar is fitted? Thanls

Re:

Hi Steve,

To access the air filter you would have to loosen the 2 bolts of the bar itself and lift one side up, as it goes over the air filter box and there isn't enough space to remove the air filter. It's not a huge inconvenience since you are only doing that every 10,000kms with the factory air filter and every 40,000kms with a K&N air filter emoticon

Re: X-Trail Strut Bar

Hello Jalal,
Thanks for the Strut Bar for my 2009 X-Trail TS which arrived yesterday. I fitted it straight away as I was going for a trip today. I followed the instructions from the forum. There were a couple of issues on my vehicle fitout. On the left side there is a small plastic valve attached to the airfilter box that had to be stretched a little for the bracket to fit. I have put some rubber on it to stop any rubbing. The other issue was the AC aluminium tubing and the gas filler stem on it was hard against the bar. I have managed to encourage the tubing a little more forward so now there is a clearance of about 5mm.
My home town is known as the roundabout capital of Australia. We don't have traffic lights at major intersections but more then a hundred plus roundabouts for our 50,000 population.
The X-trail now takes these with much better handling and comfort and a more stable drive for my trip today of 280km.
The Strut Bar is very well constructed and a quality addition to my vehicle. Well done emoticon

Re:

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the feedback and am glad you fitted the Strut Bar OK to your Series 4 diesel. That plastic plug on the air filter box side is there as well in the Series 1 and 2 as you can see HERE, but I can't remember it interfering with the strut bar base when we fitted the strut bar to the Series 1/2 previously, so maybe Nissan moved this plug a bit closer to the strut tower in the later Series. Excellent solution with the rubber insert.

Re: X-Trail Strut Bar

Jalal, just a quick one. As the Alutec strut bar out of Oz would cost me a fortune in shipping alone, I went with the most available one and ordered the Ultraracing one through the local agent in Bangkok. It wasn't in stock but they ordered it from Malaysia - it took almost 6 weeks! It is now on the car and the difference is really noticeable.
Cost for me (including installation at the agent - all of 10 minutesemoticon) was 2,500 baht, about 75 AUD at today's exchange rate. I guess I'm a bit closer to Malaysia so it didn't cost an arm and a leg.
Can't beat the Alutec for bling factor, but I'm still one happy camper.
