Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options
Hi Les,
The picture is of the Harness connector of the Xtrail and is viewed from the Harness side. Pin 7 should be Sky Blue (accessories) and Pin 9 should be Red (Illumination). Check this is how yours currently is. Locate the two corresponding wires in the supplied adapter harness. If you look at the pin side of the adapter plug, you may see a small tab which keeps the pin in place. Push down on this tab with a fine screwdriver or scriber and you may be able to get the pin out. Swap the two of them over and see if we have made some difference.
The adapter harness also has two wires which are labeled W+ W- which you plug together for steering wheel controls. I take it you don't have them, so make sure they are unplugged. If we still have the radio seek problem, on page 20 or 21 it shows how to set up the wheel controls. If you can get into this menu and select Clear. This will prevent anything being read externally to the unit itself.

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options
Hi Les,
That is a great outcome indeed. The additional volts on the W1 wire was causing us to think there was a wiring harness issue. Normally that W1 wire is fed by an internal 5 volt supply, this in-turn gets pulled towards ground via different resistor values behind each switch. If the wire had battery volts from the illumination circuit applied to, this would no doubt cause it to go askew. Great work in solving this.

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options
Hi Adam,
Our good friend in Perth posted a very detailed account of how to run the camera cables for the koason unit and this does not require the removal of the seats. If you require to remove the seat for your sub woofer install, remove the NEGATIVE terminal from the battery. If you remove the seat and in doing so remove the connector for the air bag system, DO NOT turn the Ignition or Acc on until these are connected. The system does a scan on power up and will see the seat as an open circuit and register a fault. This can be cleared and Jalal has access to a well documented procedure to do so. If you are going to screw mount the speaker, check very carefully under the carpet for any wiring harness that may be there. Check carefully also underneath for any piping / cables that may be in the way. As with any mod you do, the safety and security of your Xtrail is the prime importance.
