Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

Mine is misaligned as well, with factory tow bar, but whats interesting is that I had to have the rear end repaired after a small truck lost its parking brake and rolled into me, they had to replace the bumper and even they couldn't get it straight, but it's not rubbing.

The latest update from Nissan on this issue is that they are in the final stages of approving a fix for the problem and that they will let us know the outcomes before the end of this week!

Finally some light at the end of the tunnel for this annoying problem.

Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

That's great because my car is going into the dealers on Friday so they can take more pix.
So if they have got a fix by then my car should be one of the first to have it applied?????
Believe it when I see it, we are talking about the same people that believe oil on your filter is normal.

The week is up. Any news?

I picked my TL up at the start of November. It was rubbing, just. I mentioned it at the 1000klm service and they were "going to get back to me" after talking to the body repair shop and Nissan.

Barry.

Edit: Oh, the other one at the dealership with a towbar was off-centre and the ones without towbars were straight.

Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

Ha ha knew it, The dealer had a new bulletin and would not let me see it this time, they take out more of the bumper in the drivers side and also down were the stem of the hitch goes.
It no longer rubs, but it is still higher on the drivers side.
Gotta call customer service on Monday and ask about getting the damage on the inside door trim repaired/ replaced on my car that has done 3345kms.....
This is no fix, were do Nissan say that they are signing off on a fix, as I can't find an official statement from them anywhere?

Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

Be VERY careful about accepting a Nissan Australia fix.

Remember that they wanted to fix faulty gear shifters with a Very Dodgy micro-switch bypass (according to the dealer I went to - dodgy is my term) leading to another set of problems instead of FIXING the problem.

Re:

At this stage, we just wanna see what the actual fix is because as soon as the fix is "officially" announced, it means all those T31 owners with damage bumpers and tailgates can straight away request the repair to be carried-out for these parts.

I will try to find out what the recent bulletin states and if it is in relation to this fault or not.

My car goes in for it's 1,000k service on Wednesday and will be pointing out the rear bumper to them (not that mine is misaligned much at all, but just so it's on the records in case I want to take it back when and if a fault is announced). emoticon
