Re:
Did you ask the mechanic to let you know why it has gone to safe mode and what they have done to cause this?
There is no such thing as "unlock code", they were just waiting for instructions on how to re-set the car back from whatever failure that happened while the car was with them (be it a sensor problem or a more serious turbo diesel problem) and this is exactly what they need to tell you.

Re:
Hi Dev,
Safe mode is the cars ECU going into a limp mode so the car can be driven to a dealer without causing any more damage.
I can't see the brakes triggering this off though.
Maybe the engine vibration caused Safe mode to come on in the first place.
I would be taking to the dealer and explaing this to them.
Good luck.

Re: Engine vibrating on idling
Hey Dev, love India, was in Mumbai recently.
Your prob could be a few things but get it all 'Reset' first. If that doesnt fix it and I doubt its the brakes triggered a Safe Mode.
Id be looking at
Crank and camshaft Sensors.
Engine Mounts cracked?
Knock Sensor - which if faulty will retard the engine a bit and itll shake a bit. Maybe.
Blocked Intercooler? PCV valve?
US Ebay has lots of Genuine Nissan Bits.
Ps. Ask the Nissan Mechanic what fualt codes it had in the Log. Ecu will store and OBD scan tool will show what was happening, even for a split second and no CheckEngineLight.
Good luck.

Re: Engine vibrating on idling
Hi Dev, Im in Western Australia and times are earlier here than the Eastern States for Jalal,
Your mechanic has advised of two very different problems. I would definately start with replacing engine mounts as a timing chain replacement costs are huge. Buy yourself a stethescope and listen to the timng cover. It will make quite a rattle if its the chain. If it is rattling its probably the Tensioner.
Keep us all informed/
Generally the Timiing Chain should never have to be replaced especially noy under 100 thousand. If it was a timing belt then maybe.

Re:
Hi Dev,
Engine vibration due to leakage of one of the engine mounts is a high possibility and we had T30 xtrails with shot engine mounts before, but that wouldn't cause the car to go into Safe Mode, so ask the dealer to make sure 100% that engine mount is leaking before replacing it and charging you more money!
Timing Chain doesn't need replacement at all as Scott mentioned.
As I said previously, I suspect they started the car with one of the sensors disconnected and that is why it has gone into safe mode, they need to tell you the error code that would have come-up when the safe mode got triggered.

Re:
Sounds like a hopeless dealer to me and I wouldn't trust a word of what they're saying. They just wanna sell you parts and charge you a fortune for it!
