Re: Adding a Glovebox Light to a T31 X-Trail

A picture can tell a thousand words, so it would be good to take a pic of it located in your glovebox so others won't have to guess.

Re: Adding a Glovebox Light to a T31 X-Trail

Here are some pictures of my installation - as you can see Black may have been better, but it is hardly noticed anyway.

As you can see from the close-up, the unit protrudes a little from the side. This position with this unit is quite sensitive to how far out this protrusion is, as to whether:
1/- Unit switches off when door almost closed
2/- Unit doesn't prevent door from closing.

Get this aspect right and all is good (hence my advice to tape to side in various positions until the correct one is found/remove batteriesto reveal mounting holes/drill 1mm holes and then screw on.

I found this location was one of the only ones that worked without hitting something when closing door.

Re: Adding a Glovebox Light to a T31 X-Trail

QUESTION???

Does anyone know what the perforated knockout area on the back wall of the glove box is for???

Looks like there may be factory glovebox-light install there in some versions or perhaps a cooling duct location as per the chilled drink containers.

Re:

Hey guys
After reading this one I've had my eyes open for deals, and yesterday I got a 3 pack of black 5 LED velcro/stick on units that run on 3xAAA's which have tilting lenses for $5 at Supercheap Auto. 10 Pack of AAA's and sorted.
I've fitted it on the right hand side where it's recessed a bit and the tilted lens shines into the top bit as well as the bottom, and if the missus drops something in the footwell it comes off as a torch! You have to turn it on and off (two brightness settings) but it's cheap and I didn't have to drill any holes.
When i've read the bit on posting pics again and understand it, I'll try to put one on.

I was going to do this... TOO HARD. Hahaha.

Also noticed the 3&4 DO have a light, but its only on when the headlights are on.

Before i realised this i took the easy, reads: smart emoticon, option and spent a whopping $6.56 on this...

Hi Mate,

The links you're including in your posts all require us to sign-up to some board/forum to view these pics, which is not the ideal way of showing us what you want us to see. Please use PhotoBucket and host your images there like everyone else is doing, as I for one, won't be signing-up to any board to view your images!

Also, my Series 4 Ti doesn't have the glovebox light. I just went outside and checked while the car was running and the headlights were on.

I just fitted a stick-on 3 LED gadget in there and it does the job.

My bad. Looks like I cut and pasted the wrong thing.
Link was to eBay. Search pir led. Sticks on with double sided tape and goes on as soon as a hand gets near it.

It's weird there is so much variation on things I consider should be standard.

I'll take a pic and put it up tomorrow.

Re: Adding a Glovebox Light to a T31 X-Trail

Hi All,

Just picked up my new Ti 2.5 CVT today ... woohoo. Tried it on the dirt roads and compared to my traded car in, which was a Holden VE Calais, God it's great.

Now I might be mistaken, but for some reason I had the idea that T31 X-Trails didn't come with a Glove Box Light. So I bought for about $5 a push on/off LED light to stick in the side of the glove box. Pretty damn good lights though.

Well ... I am such an idiot, when I got the car today it has a Glove Box Light. Anyway does anyone know which models didn't have the Glove Box Light?

***
Also I had the Genuine Nissan Security Alarm fitted, can someone suggest an area of this forum where I can ask some questions re the testing / usage of the alarms?

Many thanks,

Wal
