Re: Rear Wiper problem
What model xtrail mate?
I had a fault in mine, purely caused by a slightly open circuit conector.
You have obviously already removed the wiper motor several times, just check that when the connectors are pushed back together, a test light will indicate power on each side of the connection. (Edit..the connectors in the rear of the vehicle, up inside the boot wall trims, and inside the boot door panel itself)
Run a trailing lead (just a long length of wire) from the battery negative to the boot space.....never get a better earth than that, and if that doesnt fix the apparent lack of earth, it will be something else
I dont think a failed intermittent circuit would cause complete loss of wiper function, if I recall correctly ours worked as normal, just not on intermittent.
Try sourcing a wiper stalk from a wreckers, and swap it out to see if it changes functionality (if you havent already)
Cheers

Re: Rear Wiper problem
I have a slightly different problem with my rear wiper - it won't turn off.
It will only stop when I turn the ignition off.

Re:
Andy,
The wiper stalk is a simple push in type and it has contacts in it, so replacing it is as simple as un-clipping it from its holding position on the steering column. You can find the wiper stalk at the wreckers and since yours is an ST, you might as well get the wiper stalk from a Ti that has the intermittent speed adjustment of the front wipers and it would work perfectly on the ST as well
As to the rear wiper operating all the time and not turning off, I had this problem with an incorrect wiring of the towbar, it was an earthing issue. Any auto electrician can easily identify this fault and fix it.

Re: Rear Wiper problem
Andy,
I think I still have my ST wiper stalk in the garage somewhere, so if you want I can send that to you and you can see if it helps solve the problem.
