Re:
Hi Pierre,
Don't you have windscreen insurance cover? Now that you told me this, I reckon this will be the first addition am gonna make to my insurance policy for the T31 Series 4 I am getting, as some insurance companies offer free windscreen replacement with no excess payable, which is exactly what is needed given the price tag of the windscreen with sensors.
I would have never guessed them to be so expensive and I don't think the insurance companies know that either
Given the fact that may have to wait quite a while for the windscreen to arrive from Japan (due to the tsunami impacts and the associated delays) I reckon you currently have no option but to go with the standard windscreen.

Re:
Hmmm, look forward to an update on this. Did they tell you where exactly the rain sensors are located on the windscreen?
Is the rear view mirror stuck to the windscreen? If that is the case, they gonna need to order a new base for it as the stuck base of the rear view mirror can not be re-used when pulled off.
That's the problem with new cars, they get them into the country without any stock of spare parts and hope that nothing happens for some months and when it does, huge waiting times happen because they need to order the parts from Japan/overseas.

Re:
WOW, that price is a killer for sure!!
Yep, the rear view mirror is the same in all T31 models, but the rain sensors are only available on the Ti and TL Series 3 and 4.
I think am gonna insist on a "windscreen protection plan" of some sort to be provided by the dealer when I get the car. hahaha

Re:
I thouht that the sensors were part of the rear view mirror, just as they are in the VW Golf. The onlu difference I can see in their screen is the blacked out section that goes around the square sensor itself.
I'll have to have a proper look at the TI X Trail next time at the dealers.
