The only shutdown was in first gear only so I think its the engine management slowing the motor from a constant high rev.
Also was the ESP on or off? Did the wheels spin before the shutdown?

Stephen, check the brakes yourself.
Nissan told me that I only had 5000kms left on the rear pads, only to find that when I got home and had a look, had 5mm of pad left on all of 4 on the rear.

I wouldn't ague with a free CVT oil change - it's an expensive very special oil that needs to be in good condition for the CVT belt to grip the pullies in the CVT (it turns "rubbery" under pressure if not degraded). The ECM and TCM detect any slip and system goes to "fail-safe" mode ie engine almost dies.
A free oil change also means you don't need it replaced so soon so you'll save lots of $s when it should be due (put off CVT oil change for 60,000kms).
I think scheduled oil change is around 120,000kms.
