Re: Non Nissan servicing costs (T30 & T31)
Non dealer 70k service done on our T31 today after Nissan bent the shaft on my mates Navara alternator when changing a belt, said it was like that when it came in and tried to charge him $2500. When he replied he was a panel beater of 20 yrs, machinery operator for last 10 and knew what he talking about they gave him his keys.
Total cost was $127 inc fuchs cfx oil and filter, no air filter. 1 hr labour total.
No charges for ridiculus stuff like wiper fluid, fuel system cleaner, misc etc. Enviro levy was $3 and oil filter $11 as opposed to Nissans $25ish for each from memory. Didnt pay $80 per hour for an apprentice to black my tyres either.

If you want to use a non Nissan dealer mechanic for your services, you can purchase products yourself from the parts counter at your local dealer and supply them yourself. Most mechanics have accounts there and use genuine parts or other consumables when specified by the customer or if no equivelent is available.
With non dealer services I personally have found advantages such as you are talking to, in most cases the person with grease on their hands from working on your car, not 3rd hand info from a desk jockey. They are also not restricted in the use of genuine Nissan parts or can purchase a part that is made by a company for Nissan. A good example of this is a non Nissan mechanic can supply and install a Hayman Reece or Genuine Nissan towbar or different brake pads/rotors where the Nissan Service centres are more restricted.

80,000km Service today, $305 total, $250 less than the Capped Nissan Service.
Details are 2.5 x hours Labour $200, $11 for oil filter, $40 engine oil, $49 CVT oil, $3 Waste disposal, $2 Globe.
