Re: request for stuck cd instructions

Husky,

The manual doesn't show how to dismantle the head unit itself, cause it will void your warranty on the audio system if you do that, but I have posted instructions on how to remove the head unit from its place in THIS thread.

I suggest you get it to the dealer to look at, otherwise you'll get blamed for the fault and you won't be covered by warranty repair if you tamper with it.

On my T30 6 CD stacker you couldn't get the stuck CD's manually, even if you open the cover, the unit needed to have power for the CDs to come out.

Re: request for stuck cd instructions

I thought all CD players came with a small hole on the front face to manually remove the CD (I assume power would need to be present, though I could be wrong). This is the same for all front-load CD players I have ever seen, including CD-ROM drives (look on your PC, there will be a little hole with no label on the front panel).

Of course if it's a CD stacker, I doubt the hole would be present emoticon

Re: request for stuck cd instructions

i had a stuck cd in my T30 a couple of weeks ago. I took the unit out of the dash and simply unscrewed the casing around the player. This exposed the cd cartridge and i was able to easily remove all six cd's.

Re: request for stuck cd instructions

Well, I have just had the 'stuck CDs in the CD stacker' problem with my new T30. This thread was somewhat helpful - in that it suggested it could be fixed. But after dismantling most of the dash and the centre console before realising that the CD could be accessed with one bolt, I thought I might post instructions to help others avoid my wrong turns.

Access is achieved by unscrewing the 8mm bolt at the bottom of the LHS drinks cooler cavity - after removing the plastic on/off shell. The attached photo shows the LHS cooler cavity with the shell and bolt removed - you should be able to see the bolt hole.

Image

Then, remove the drinks cooler unit by pulling it away - the next photo shows this. Two of the four screws holding in the CD player can also be seen. Remove these, and pull the CD unit out, then remove the black power lead and the white speaker wires plug.

The CD unit can now go to the kitchen bench. Remove the top cover of the CD stacker by unscrewing the two small screws at the (top) back of the unit. Slide top cover away backwards. This will expose the CDs from the top, which will be held down by a spring loaded tin plate (sorry, no photos of this stage).

Lift spring loaded plate up evenly and off its guides until you can just remove the CDs. Remove all CDs, then replace spring loaded plate back on its guides and let go with a twang (just joking). Now return top cover to CD unit, taking care to get the little guide tabs in the right place, and replace the two screws. Back to the car. Don't forget to plug in black power lead and white speaker wires plug. Reassemble.

Once powered up, my stacker spent about a minute whirring, clicking and 'thinking', before deciding it had remembered who it was. It has worked flawlessly since.
