posticon Hello all - from a new owner

Hi all

Have been using the forum the past few weeks to gather up information on purchasing an X trail. Most informative so thank you.

Finally bit the bullet today. The choice was between:

- 2007 STS-Extreme 20K kilometres
- 2002 Ti 70K kilometres

Both excellent vehicles but the second was a lot cheaper than the first, drove well if not better than the first, and ticked all the boxes.

Ended up buying the second for a very good price, IMHO. Only things I could fault with it were:

- driver window auto up bug - won't close on the auto up without reversing - a search on here suggests that may be easily remedied - have printed that off and will apply once I take delivery
- newish Federal tyres - not sure about these at all! (am seeking advice on whether I should replace all four, or just the two steers? - I will post in budget tyres once I am allowed to)

Anyway, looking forward to joining another online community! emoticon

Cheers

Richard

Hi Richard and welcome to the forum.

Your member number is X-1728

Glad to have you as a formal member.

Your post has automatically granted you Regular Membership status and access to most (but not all) forum sections. You now have the option to upgrade to Full Membership to gain access to all forum sections (details HERE).

The 2002 model drove better than the first because it has more power than the 2007 model (132KW compared to 123KW) emoticon

There is a lot of useful information around the various threads and I am sure you will be quite busy reading it all.

Please use the search feature of the forum first and post any questions you may have into existing threads where possible. Try to avoid creating a new thread if the topic is already covered, thanks.

Let us know if you need any help with any aspect of the forum and we will be more than happy to assist.

We have set-up quite an extensive forum guide section which you may like to refer to for help and it can be found HERE

As a new member you are encouraged you to familiarize yourself with the following section of the forum: Site Navigation & Forum Guides

If you could update your location and add your name and Exy model into your signature (when and if you get one) of the Miscellaneous section of the Control Panel it would help us all to answer any future questions you might have.

Enjoy your stay with us and let us know if you need any help.

emoticon to the forum Richard emoticon

The tyres are depending on how much off roading you want to do with your exy.

I personally would put up with them until they need replacing as this would free up ant money left to do some mods !!

Check out the online shop for some great ideas emoticon

Have fun.

Regards Scot

Re: Hello all - from a new owner

Well took delivery last night. Very nice car all around.

Unfortunately, the engine light came on during the trip home, the tacho stopped working, and then the 4WD light came in a bit later. Very hard to start - no go this morning.

Noice! Not.

Anyway, on the towtruck this morning - off to Magic Nissan to fix (gulp).

Very red faced at home.

I hope I don't have to change my avatar to exasperated.

Hi Richard.

Mate, if you bought your car from a dealer, I would take it back cause it should be covered by warranty and ask for them to reimburse you the cost of fixing it. emoticon

Mate, thats bad luck on the new purchase.
Hope it all goes well from here on in emoticon
Hope the dealer covered it, if one was involved with the sale, as jamie said.

Re: Hello all - from a new owner

Thanks all.

Yes it was a bit of bad luck. But good luck in a way, because it allowed me to get the problem fixed just days before I took off on a road trip to points north in WA for the 2010 windsurfing epic (not well planned to buy a new car and set off immediately long distance, I know).

No come back on the dough though, it was a private purchase.

The car, post fix, performed flawlessly over 9 days, carrying 3 blokes and their gear, as well as a rather large trailer carrying 10 boards, 20 sails, 7 booms, and 5 masts, esky, beer, wine, lever coffee machine and grinder, tent, etc etc.

I can recommend the new Indian Ocean Drive north from Lancelin through to Cervantes as a very picturesque drive.

Richard
