Hi Andrew
I had a look at the specs, seems to be basically the same as the one i have, think they all come out of the same chinese factory. The web site displays gps navigation as IGO8, you need to check if it has the latest maps which i think is Aug 2010, if not you can get them from flea bay. The DTV antenna is the same as mine so you would need to upgrade to get decent reception. As with many of the no name stuff its a bit hit and miss, my first unit went back as the cd player skipped tracks. The one you link to on autogps website has a better GUI than mine.

Hi got the camera from Autobarn, works well. Im still figuring out how to get the bluetooth button on the steering wheel to control the bluetooth on the Kenwood. I have the SWI jack interface, which will enable all the wheel controls, however in the instructions it mentions configuring the existing factory fit bluetooth module. Million dollar question, where is it...?? have looked where instructions mentioned and other places for the Module, btw thanks Tony, but its not there either!! After calling the Nissan service dept, they said it could be, yes could be, behind the radio...no, above the radio...no, behind the glove box.., or maybe integrated into the old head unit!
After a call to Nissan Australia, customer service told me(after lengthy discussions with techs) they "think" its integrated into the headunit on the 2010 model. Nobody seems to know, never the less leaves me scratchin my head. Might have to live without that one button..

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Hi Greg,
This is what it should look like.

Image

Its a black box screwed onto a gold colour backing plate which then fixes above the brake pedal.

Re:

Well I pulled the kitchen sink out again today to fit the Pac SWI jack interface to enable steering wheel butttons to operate. After connecting the appropriate wires, it was time to program the interface. This in itself was a exercise, like learning a new dance. Each steering button had to be programed in a strict time limited order, whilst pressing a button on the interface in between successive commands, waiting for a LED to extinguish before proceeding to next command . Functions that were not used were skipped via a double press on the interface.
After telling the interface its a Kenwood, the dance goes like this... IN THIS ORDER

Press interface button...LED on
Vol + button hold.... LED out
Press interface button...LED on
Vol - button hold....LED out
Skip
Press interface button...LED on
Press interface button...LED on
Source button hold...LED out
Skip
Press interface button...LED on
Press interface button...LED on
Track up button hold... LED out
Press interface button...LED on
Track down button hold...LED out
Skip
Press interface button...LED on
Press interface button...LED on
Skip
Press interface button...LED on
Phone button hold...LED out
LED flashes 3 times after 7sec to indicate programming complete(which will also happen if you are too slow between button pushes).

I had a few goes at getting the sequence correct within the time limit, which is a bugger as each time you have to clear the memory and start over again!!
Its really a two person job, one pressing the interface..calling off/on and the other calling the correct order, pressing wheel buttons, including the skips.

As it says at the end of the instructions......that's all, enjoy

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

Hi Guys,

I am awaiting delivery of my new X-Trail, and I am already thinking of mods! It is a TL model so it will come with the "Kitchen Sink". Does anyone know if it is possible to buy a TV reciever for this, and if so has anyone does this yet?

Cheers

Matt

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options

I am not sure about a TV receiver, but my head unit has the option of selecting "VTR" I am assuming this is video tape recorder. That said if you can connect a VTR you should be able to connect a digital receiver. The below link is to Eclipse who supply the Nissan headunit.
