Re: Dronus (Andrew) NSW Visit (Trip Confirmed 15/8/2009)

Jalal,

One of the guys im staying with would like to come along too. There is a chance he will be bringing his own car as he is on call. His name is Dave and he has a Mitsubishi Triton Ute. It will also give me the option to head straight off after the trip if we find some good tracks or places to enjoy emoticon

Hope this is ok?

Cheers,

Dronus

Re: Dronus (Andrew) NSW Visit (Trip Confirmed 15/8/2009)

Hi Guys,

Fortunately for me I’m in Sydney for a 2 day conference next week and managed to be available this weekend to be able to attend this meet up. Awesome! emoticon

Sadly though I won’t be in my X-Trail but I have a choice of bringing up either a Mercedes ML500 or Toyota Hilux 4x4. Much to my disappointment I think the Hilux is the more suitable vehicle as the 22” wheels with 35 profiles on the ML500 probably isn’t suited to the terrain, damm! emoticon

Speaking about GPS I was introduced to one a few days ago and wow! I need one now, I can see the benefit of one of these little devices in Sydney, however not sure if I’ll need one back in Cairns.

I’m staying in Leichhardt and looks like the most direct route for me is via the M4. Now I’m a tourist using a GPS (tomtom) for the first time, can anyone confirm that this visitor’s centre at Glenbrook is on the corner of Green Street and the Great Western Highway?

Will be good to see you all there and very much looking forward to this weekend. emoticon

That is correct, Noel:

Clicky Clicky for Google Street-View

The latest is that Clare has bad case of tonsilitis with a headache and temperature of 38.9 last night (temp has returned to normal now) but she's thinking she'd prefer to go down the coast to her parent's place with Josh. That doesn't change my plans for the day by much, but I did have a thought tonight - as I haven't installed it in my work van yet, and if I get a chance to install it tomorrow arvo, I may have some bass in the X-Trail for the first time in two years!!!

Woohoo!

So where is a good place to meet at Blackheath? Was my previous suggestion of just over the railway line OK? Will keep a listen on ch26 & 27 anyway...

Admin Edit: Fixed link

My edit: it took me 4 preview posts before that link would work, so if admin editted it then it still mustn't have worked properly when I hit "submit"... Main thing is it works properly for others to see...

Awesome Rich,

That link doesn’t work for me, but I do have a copy of an old UBD here and that was the location I assumed.

Bad news about Clare, good news about you, for a second there I thought you were backing out of a meet up again! emoticon

Warm regards to Clare and hope she gets better, and will be good to catch up with you again this Saturday.

If your heading West, just pull over before you get to the railway crossing. It is right there at a set of lights where the shops start.
Plenty of space on the side of the highway.

Noel
Bring the merc mate, we will test it out. emoticon
Yes the Tomtom's are awesome.
Can't wait to meet you.

Hi Guys,

Is there space for one more?

Would probably meet you at Blackheath at 11 with Rich and Brett if that's OK.

Re: Dronus (Andrew) NSW Visit (Trip Confirmed 15/8/2009)

I am planning being at Glenbrook Info Centre carpark about 9am (ish) in case anyone wants to come up a little early to meet and say G'day.

I've had a few ppl asking about the exhaust and other bits and pieces so ill get there a bit early so they can have a look without delaying the start time.

Looks like its shaping up to be an awesome day!
