Maybe I was lucky and got away with it, but I did think about drilling out the hole the pin slides into and lining it with rubber tubing or the like. Let us Know how you go...nondisclosed_email@example.com (TopGun65)Sat, 02 Sep 2023 18:13:34 +0000 Re: Annoying rattle/knockhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2100046,from=rss#post2100046https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2100046,from=rss#post2100046Hey TopGun, I've just recently bought a used 2012 T31 and have also noticed the mechanism on the back seat causing a decent rattle. Do you have any ideas of anything that can be done to quieten that up? I was considering putting a rubber coating or something around the catch but not sure if that would cause a jam?nondisclosed_email@example.com (dtarrant)Fri, 01 Sep 2023 16:42:00 +0000 Re: Annoying rattle/knockhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098347,from=rss#post2098347https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098347,from=rss#post2098347Try the carmanualsclub.com I see they have electronic version for the T31 (https://carmanualsclub.com/nissan-x-trail-service-repair-manual/), imagine if you poked around you'd find something for a T32.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Nickelass)Sun, 07 Mar 2021 12:04:54 +0000 Re: Annoying rattle/knockhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098252,from=rss#post2098252https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098252,from=rss#post2098252Unfortunately we don't have one on the forum. There are some on ebay if you search for Nissan Xtrail T32 Workshop Manual. You will find options for both a download and a CD version but they are all only for the 2.5 Petrol variant. Maybe one from the UK might have the diesel version if you need it.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Fri, 05 Feb 2021 11:35:09 +0000 Re: Annoying rattle/knockhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098250,from=rss#post2098250https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098250,from=rss#post2098250Thanks Kev, good idea. How do I get hold of the electronic service manual for a T32? Any ideas? Can I download it from somewhere?nondisclosed_email@example.com (BobHatton)Fri, 05 Feb 2021 09:17:23 +0000 Re: Annoying rattle/knockhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098249,from=rss#post2098249https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098249,from=rss#post2098249quote:BobHatton wrote: This board unfortunately doesn't ever seem to be that active.. I think Bob it is more that not all members would have had the same problem or the same model Xtrail and rather than posting unnecessary posts saying they don't know it is best left for someone who has had a similar problem, like Eric, to chime in with whatever help they might be able to offer. One thing I have found useful is to get a copy of the Electronic Service Manual for your Xtrail model. This allows you to see exactly how to remove panels yourself to find the cause quicker and then you could post what you found and maybe help others in the future nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Fri, 05 Feb 2021 08:39:18 +0000 Re: Annoying rattle/knockhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098246,from=rss#post2098246https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098246,from=rss#post2098246Hi Eric, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I've looked at the back seat mechanism and even had my wife travel in the back seat to try and identify the source. It is definitely coming from behind the rear left plastic panel and sounds like a knocking metal on plastics but I simply have no idea how to remove that panel to have a look. If anyone could help - it's driving me insane! This board unfortunately doesn't ever seem to be that active..nondisclosed_email@example.com (BobHatton)Fri, 05 Feb 2021 06:26:20 +0000 Re: Annoying rattle/knockhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098243,from=rss#post2098243https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098243,from=rss#post2098243I had a couple of knocks coming from the LHS rear as well in my T31. The first noise I had was a top shock absorber bolt, but that was more of a loud knock. The other noise I still have is the LHS backseat backrest/upright where the seats top pin (for lowering and raising the backrest) engages into the catch. Grab the top of the backrest and push it back and forth and see if it makes the same noise. I found that particular noise disappeared when someone sat in that seat as it took up the slack around the pin. I'm not sure if yours will be the same being a T32, but it's worth a try. There is a knock/rattle coming from the rear LHS and it sounds like it's behind the plastic panel behind the seat where the seat belt is. I've had everything out including spare wheel, jack, tools etc everything but still it persists. I can be going very slowly over even slightly uneven ground or even just cornering on our uneven bitumen in Queensland and the sound will be there. It sounds like metal on plastic or something similar. I've even checked under the wheel for a loose lining but to no avail. If there's an easy way to get that rear plastic panel off then if someone could show me (with pictures) that would be great! Someone suggested it could be inside there with the rear seat belt tensioner but I literally have no idea! If anyone could help you'd make me very happy! Has anyone else suffered this?nondisclosed_email@example.com (BobHatton)Wed, 03 Feb 2021 06:17:49 +0000
