Android HeadUnit query for Xtrail T31 2011 model

Hi folks, I'm looking for some advice on replacing the standard headunit in my Xtrail T31 2011 model.

Whats the current suggestion on the best android headunit to buy.

I've read some old posts here about Joying but don't know if they are still good.

Looking at android style headunit with reversing camera integration.
CD player integration will also be good for playing audiobook on long drives.

Appreciate any advice.
cheers

Hi

Just installed Android head set with reverse camera. Picked up iso conversion cables to interface with factory looms. Had to disconnect factory bluetooth. Still trying to get steering wheel controls to work. But now have maps, radio, apps, video, reverse camera, front camera. Very pleased with results.
Purchased head unit from wish.

I initially installed a Eonon, but I was very very slow. I removed it and sold it.
I then put in a Pioneer AVH-8850BT because I decided I wanted a product I could get support with if I had problems. This is obsolete now, but it responds quickly does Android or AppleCar Play. Fitting is simple, 2 cables needed, one to convert NISSAN to ISO, then an ISO to what ever brand you buy. Some new head units have ISO instead of their own style. Also antennae from NISSAN to a standard type as used of almost all head units.
Kenwood has some with ISO sockets

Steering controls, I dont have in the X-Trail but do in my other small car. I needed to buy a convertor loom from car parts and audio dealer. The head unit and loom needed to be connected BEFORE power was connected. The headunit somehow knew the steering controls were now available and found them!

Having an Android head unit is a must for me, as I want to have the navigation integrated. If you want to go this path, make sure you buy one that comes with Nissan harness (NOT ISO!) - makes life easier! The installation is literally Plug'n'play and no additional cables are required. No splicing of any kind is needed except for connecting the reverse camera power cable, which was also a breeze.
There are even some 10" Tesla style options, which come with their own fascia, but that's an overkill for me.

I think it's not OK to put Aliexpress links here, but if you search the site for 2 din android you will get a lot of options.
This is what I got:
Image

Unfortunately after 1 month of working the GPS died. I suspect a burned chip most probably, as the antenna is OK. So I had to replace it with my old Android unit which I used on my old T30. Just to find that its wi-fi doesn't work anymore... So at some point, I may consider one of these 10" options.

Anyway, provided that everything works, I was happy with the device. The only annoying thing was that the volume dial is too close to the side of the fascia and difficult to grab/turn.

One more thing to consider. While testing the bad GPS thing I tried to swap it with almost the same unit I have in my Nissan Tiida (working OK there for over 2 years). Although they look 100% identical the mounting holes were differently placed on the side of the unit and it couldn't fit in the Exy. Drilling some new holes on the original car's brackets could solve the problem, but I wasn't bothered. The brackets coming with the device were useless BTW.

I personally don't use the car very often and all I need from this device is to be Android, so I can use all the navigations app I usually do and being able to install my preferred music player. I do not need 4G, so I don't know if it works with some 4G modems, etc. I am also not particularly fussy about the sound quality, so I can't say anything in that regard.

With these devices/Aliexpress if something goes wrong more than two weeks after receiving it you are screwed, so be aware of this!

Hi All,

Can anybody tell me if the 2012 T31 ST would have the Camera line included in the loom ?

My understanding is the TI had it ?

If so, do you know if it's composite or a Nissan hybrid cable?

Shane
