Re: Intermittent P2263
Hi Alastair,
An internet search finds the following possible causes.
P2263 NISSAN Possible Causes
Intake air leaks
Exhaust gas leaks
Faulty Turbocharger boost sensor
Faulty Turbocharger boost control solenoid valve
Faulty Recirculation valve
Faulty Exhaust manifold and turbocharger assembly
Faulty Boost control actuator
Since Darryl found a split in his intercooler inlet hose, then looking at all your flexible hoses between inlet and manifold would be a good place to start. Then check all clamp fittings are tight and that there are no exhaust leaks before the O2 sensors. Next I would suggest checking all sensor connectors.
Not being an actual diesel Xtrail owner, these would just be my logical check points to start with based on others experience with this fault.

Re: Intermittent P2263
I had the same as Carney, intermittent fault for P2263 Turbo Performance. The car was down on power at all times though. I thought it was just in my head at first, but after fixing it definitely was down. Interestingly never saw an engine light, and the Limp mode (3000rpm restriction) was intermittent, but power always down a bit. And down massively when in limp mode.
Went through all the basics, vacuum pipes, intercooler houses etc, no boost or vacuum leaks. Was very suspect on the boost control solenoid, but testing resistance it was OK, right at 19 ohms. Pulled it apart, no cracks in the diaphragm, and no oil or anything inside. Then did a full EGR clean - it was extremely dirty, 230tKm car I just bought, reckon it may never have been done. Drove it after cleaning/checking everything... Felt better but not right.
Spoke to a mate at the local Nissan dealer, he suggested it was indeed likely to be the boost solenoid as well - and they had them in stock. Bit the bullet and replaced, instantly fixed. Could tell within 100m of driving.
Thanks for your experience and posts Carney.
