Replacing rear high mount brake light fitting on T31

I've searched the forums and can't find anything specifically addressing this - I need to replace the high mount brake light fitting on my T31 after the lens got smashed by hail.

I have a replacement unit and would be grateful for pointers as to how to remove the existing one - as far as I can tell from the new fitting it is fixed in place by two bolts so I'm guessing I attack it from behind by removing the interior trim on the top inside of the tailgate to hopefully expose a couple of nuts to undo? Does that sound right and before I go probing around with a putty knife what is the procedure to pop the trim out?

Cheers,
Denis
