Re: QR25DE Thermostats
What reason do they tell you to replace the 96C thermostat with a 82C one ?
The 2 thermostats are for totally different parts of the engine.
The 82C thermostat controls the flow of water from the radiator by not releasing flow until the temperature of the engine cylinder HEAD reaches 82C.
The 96C Water Control Valve controls the flow of coolant through the engine cylinder BLOCK only and does not let coolant flow through it until its temperature is reached.
Reducing the 96C Water Control Valvce temperature to 82C could have the effect of not allowing the engine cylinder block to reach a satisfactorily high operating temp to drive out moisture from the lubricating oil and produce a thick sludge which could block oil channels and passages causing increased engine wear.
The 2 thermostats were designed with different temps for a reason ... don't change them unless you are willing to accept any consequences.

Re: QR25DE Thermostats
Is the seep coming from a join or from what might be a pin-hole in the metal casing ?
