M9R 2010 turbo diesel xtrail stops while driving

Gday Guys..

So my wife has a 2010 nissan xtrail turbo diesel..

In the last 2 months it has been losing lower then just stopping.. it tends to happen more when the car is under load. Its now got to the point where it wont start if left sitting for a day or 2. (Although if i crank it a few times then put the battery on charge until fully charged again it seems to go first or second time the issue doesnt seem like a battery related issue though) It has recently had the suction control valve changed to no avail. We are about to change the fuel filter back to a genuine filter but after just getting a mortgage and my partner being pregnant with our second child the funds department is quiet tight atm. So hoping that someone maybe able to help point us in the right direction.

The codes that show up are P2293,P0089 which seem to be fuel pressure issues.. when the first mechanic checked it out they discovered an air ingress they removed the ingress but the problem is still here..

We are at the point where the car has become unsafe for my partner to drive with our son in the car so i have made the decision to drive it myself. Our options are running out and trading the car in may soon be our only option but at the same time expensive.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Ethan

Hi Ethan,

Scanning the internet reveals these codes point to the fuel delivery system.
P2293 and P0089 can both be caused by the following...
- clogged fuel filter
- failing fuel pump
- clogged or restricted fuel lines
- faulty fuel pressure regulator sensor

Best course of action to suggest is have all the fuel lines checked for leaks or restrictions and make sure they are free from blockages, then replace the fuel filter and test the fuel pump output pressure. If the fuel pump output pressure is below specifications then have it replaced. Finally would be to check and replace the fuel pressure regulator sensor if all the previous check OK.
