No power to car when cycling from acc to ignition
Hi everyone, after spending a few weeks on and off replacing the clutch, refitting the gearbox, and hooking (what I believe to be) everything back together, I sat in the driver’s seat and turned the key, and nothing happened. No ignition lights, no instrumentation, although I was greeted with the annoying audible alarm. I had a quick play with everything that turned or moved as far as switches go in the front, and the only responses were the lock/unlock (doors), lights (driving only), and hazards. The battery is new and fully charged too. Does anyone know if there is any calibration or resetting involved when the battery and electrics have been removed/unplugged for a period of time?
In addition, I have two wires with similar connectors, both long enough to reach the flat terminal on the starter. One is earthed to the body and one is attached to the wiring harness. Ive tried these wires in both configurations and no change to the symptoms. Could someone give me a heads up as to which goes to the starter and which goes to the adjacent earth please?
2003 Ti
Thanks

Re: No power to car when cycling from acc to ignition
First thing is to check Fues J (30A) located in the fuse box in the engine bay. This supplies power to the starter solenoid and if you had the wires connected incorrectly as it sounds like you might have, then it would be a direct short to ground and probably blew the fuse.
The wire from the harnes should be a Black with White stripe and this is the starter solenoid wire that connects onto the starter tab.
