whats an x trail worth?

My little baby is 9 years old this year. T31 auto 2.5 litre engine.

It has 234000 klm on the clock

It runs like a dream and has never let me down.

Just for a lark, I had a look at a new car last weekend and asked what Id get as a trade on a $43,000.00 vehicle.

They offered me $3,000.00.

I got up and walked out the door.
The salesman said that was a starting price and we could talk.
I laughed and said why would I part with a reliable, good car for a reliability unknown vehicle, for $3,000.00

I said. Ill just keep driving my $3,000.00 reliable car around until it falls apart in about 10 years.
Then Ill start looking at another car.

I thanked him for helping me realise that what I had was all I needed and that reliability was more important that a fancy new car.

$3,000.00 for a 2010 X Trail.
The greedy sods would have polished it up and sold it for $10,000.00 or more.

Re:

And a new car would be less reliable, more complex, full of many more design faults, and every new problem a journey of discovery and frustration.

Not to mention insance part prices, etc. Went out on a limb there, and dodged a bullet without even falling out of the tree! Well done!
