Fitting a light bar into the air-flow cut-out in the second-gen T30 front bumper?

Hi folks,

I got myself a micro-lightbar from Stedi - this little beauty here.

It's only 2.5cm height and therefor would fit rather perfectly into the air intake slit in the front bumper (the small one in-between the upper grill and the lower grill). It's also quite light (specified at 1kg, but it doesn't even feel like that) - so probably wouldn't really need to be mounted to the actual frame and the bumper bar might be strong enough to support it.

I'm wondering if it's a good idea to mount it in there, though, because...
1) would i cut off too much air intake/cooling by almost blocking off that entire gap
2) would i have too little airflow for the light bar itself and thereby make it prone to overheating
3) concerned that i'm underestimating the wait, especially with vibrations and such

Any insights/thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,
Andre.

It wouldn't make any difference to the radiator airflow / temperature,, so go for it just mount it solidly and wire it through a relay and everything will be fine.

I'd be worried about the cooling of the lightbar.
The cooling fins are at the rear and rely on airflow over the lightbar to draw heat away from the LED chips.
More than OK in cooler weather but not sure about prolonged use in hot summers

Thanks guys.

In the end agreed with Kev and got too worried about cutting off the air supply to the light bar itself. So mounted it on brackets that i attached unto the frame underneath the upper grill.

I wouldn't have been too worried about heat. It's not a driving light, its just a 'work' light. 23 LEDs at 72watts is just 3Watt LEDs. Not a lot of power going on there.
