All Power Sockets Stopped Working?

Hi Guys,

Not sure what happened recently, but I have lost power to the front and rear 12v sockets and I checked, double-checked and even replaced the fuse/s under the steering wheel but there is still no power going to there points.

Am at loss at what could have caused this and what else to look for.

Re: All Power Sockets Stopped Working?

Hi Jalal,

According to the ESM I have for the T31, fuse 19 is a 15A supply for both the front and rear power sockets ans fuse 20 is a 10A supply for the audio, nav, cameras and mirrors. Both are supplied through an accessories relay which has its coil supplied by a 40A fusible link L.

I'm guessing your audio, nav, cameras and mirrors all work ?

Re: All Power Sockets Stopped Working?

G'day guys,
As an electrical engineer, of more years than I'd care to remember, I'd be chasing this fault by using my multi-meter (or 12v test lamp) on Fuse 19.
By that, I mean, pull the fuse.
Turn the ignition key to ACC and check the Battery side of the fuse for 12v power.
If you have 12v, change your multi-meter to Resistance Scale and see how many Ohms reading you get across the actual fuse which you've pulled out. Should be zero, but sometimes, rarely, a fuse can go [sign in to see URL] Resistance. If you get anything higher than 0 Ohms, change the fuse.
Assuming you have 12v at the input of the fuse, and you have a zero resistance across the fuse, I'd then be looking at the Accessories relay. Now, just because the relay is supplying power to audio, mirrors, etc., doesn't meant that it's not a DSST (double switch, single throw) relay. In other words, it may have 2 sets of contacts [sign in to see URL] supplying the Accessories, the other supplying the two power sockets.
If you can, replace the relay and see if that fixes your problem.
If that hasn't fixed your dilemma, you'll have to follow the ESM and trace every connector on the way to your two power [sign in to see URL] as a quick aside, check both earths, at your power sockets with your multimeter. Should be zero Ohms, of course, to the body of the car.
Hope this helps, but as you'll appreciate, it's very difficult to analyse and rectify a fault, from afar.

Both power sockets not working

Im gunna go out on a limb here and ask why you think both power sockets are not working?

More than once when I have detected multiple illogical faults, it ended up being the device I was using to DO the testing that was actually faulty. Have you measured 0V at both sockets with a volt meter that is known working by testing the battery voltage directly at the battery with it?

What are you using to test the sockets, and how are you doing it?
And the outcomes of all the tests at the fuse socket and the fuse itself that BPxtrail advised....

That will get us a long way to working it [sign in to see URL] just 12v power, not CANBUS signals, shouldn't be too difficult to sort.

Re:

Tested both power sockets with a USB charger which I plugged into both of them. I noticed the front one stopped working because I had the dash cam hooked to it, so I inserted a USB charger instead and same thing, no power and the same result at the rear socket.

I'll trouble-shoot the relay and see what happens. Thanks

Re:

Hi Guys,

I found the cause of the problem, it was a faulty dash cam 12v socket that was short circuiting everything and blowing the fuse. I changed the fuse for the 10th time and this time I plugged something else in there and power is going to both sockets just fine.

Thanks for your help with this.
