Front tyre noise t30 2.5

Hey everyone.

I have a 2006 t30 2.5 auto. It had some kumhos tyres on it that were extremely noisy on the front only. They were due for replacement so I got some bridgestones put on yesterday. Not all terrains.

Noise is still there.

Using an app on my phone I've got it up to 88db on the freeway. The constant humming is driving me insane.

No vibrations or anything through the cab.

It's really driving me insane!

Anyone had a similar issue?

Cheers Josh

Just checking the noise increases steadliy with road speed and is still there if you knock it into neutral going down a big hill?

Re:

Does increase with noise, still there in neutral cruising I'm leaning towards wheel bearings. No play in them but almost like they are dry.

Re:'Tyre' noise

Unusual for BOTH wheel bearings to go at the same time, [sign in to see URL] wheel bearing usualy changes noise with load. Any change in noise turning left or right at speed @50kph, quite hard so the suspension is loaded/compressed on each side and the car leans quite hard?

Noise rolling in neutral means its from transaxle outwards. Could be output shaft bearings, drive shafts, CV's or wheel bearings.

You usually get noise from CV's turning slowly (walking speed) at steering full lock.

Re: Front tyre noise t30 2.5

I had a pinion bearing go once that caused some humming in the cabin.
It was caused by the rear engine mount failing which put an angled load on the bearing.
Found it by the spray of oil underneath the car behind the transmission and grabbing the tailshaft directly behind the pinion and moving it up/down and side-to-side having it clunk instead of being solid.
