posticon JDM X-Trail OBD Codes

Hello

I'm a new owner (and forum member) of a JDM 2001 X-Trail GT and am hoping I can get some help from you guys in Aus with this rare vehicle.
The fuel consumption is upwards of 18L/100K so I would like to pull the DTC's from the OBD sys and am wondering what scanner I will need? I purchased a quality Bluetooth OBD2 scanner to find its not compatible and won't connect even though the 16 pin plug is the same.
I have read that Nissan was not OBD2 compliant until 2007 but this depends on the country. I understand Japan used a system known as JOBD.
After hours of surfing I'm still very confused. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks in advance
 emoticon

Re: JDM X-Trail OBD Codes

Thanks Kev

I will look into that scanner unit. Hopefully the JDM OBD is the same system as your 2003 T30.
I was hoping maybe someone on your site has a PNT30 with experience reading codes from it.

Cheers

Keith

My 'VAG-COM KKL 409' USB cable that was originally purchased to work with my BMW motorcycle, also works with my T30 Series II and Tom's NDS software.

Oh, and having a JDM 1997 RR50 (Aust 'Pathfinder') for a number of years now, my experience is that the JDM vehicles get the upgraded bits that later Australian models get. So if you are ever in trouble with your 2001 JDM vehicle, check out the Series II Australian 2004-on vehicle parts.

I also have the full JDM and Aust Nissan FAST CDROMS that I can look up parts and pictures if you need me to. Unfortunately all the JDM stuff is in Kenji Japanese and I can't read a lot of it. emoticon

Re: JDM X-Trail OBD Codes

Thanks Wiz Au,

I did find a post that explained how to put the system into diagnostic mode using the ignition and gas pedal to count the engine light flash sequence. My engine light is not on and in diagnostic mode there are no fault codes.
I have now installed a new O2 sensor and am hoping that with fix the issue.

Cheers
