T31 Blower dashboard dials jam and won't rotate

Lady poster here.....I've read quite a few posts about the fan not working on certain dial settings. My problem is that the fan works fine but the dials jam and won't rotate.

This can happen on either the fan temperature or the ventilation location dials. The fan speed dial always works perfectly. The dials have been very hard to turn since new, I complained when the car was under warranty but got fobbed off and stupidly let it slide.

For a second time in a couple of months, the dials will not move or will only partially rotate, and the fan is blowing very hot air only....which is very unpleasant on a hot summer day!

I have had Nissan look into it recently. Three visits to resolve and charged for parts, an aircon regas (????) and so far spent $600. The aircon is not in question...just the blower dials.

I would really appreciate advice so that I can ask Nissan to resolve this successfully. Is it possible that the dials are jammed with a foreign body stuck somewhere?

Here is the diagram of the controls as shown in the service manual.
It looks like they are a single unit so chances are the unit may have been assembled incorrectly and there is something which pushes on the dials internally when it expands or cantracts from a temperature change.

I would ask them to take it out and check it when removed from the dash then check another unit. Maybe you just need a replacement controller.

That makes sense to me. Thanks for your reply. And for the diagram too.
