Hi from the Netherlands
Hi there,
A short introduction is appropriate.
My name is Paul, living in The Netherlands where all is cold, flat and wet (at the moment at least).
Until last week I've driven (chronological):
- '93 Ford K 1.3i d'Eco hatchback
- '00 Rover 620D sedan
- '01 Opel (Vauxhall) Vectra 2.0 DTI Station
- '01 Opel (Vauxhall) Vectra 2.2 DTI Station
- '02 Audi A4 TDI Avant
- '99 BMW 325TDI Touring
- '64 VW Beetle converted to 100% electric (company car)
- '05 Ford Mondeo TDCI Ghia Executive station
- '06 Volvo V50 2.0D Edition I station
There were only 2 real proper cars, the Vectra's and the Mondeo. All others were too small, too slow or just uther pieces of technical wretchedness and having a Dalmation and a North American Indian (Wolf/Song) dog, a toddler and being 2m (6ft 6.7in) tall, a proper sized car is needed.
Since the V50 decided to kill it's turbo on our holiday in the French Pyrenees on our way down to Spain, I decided it was time for a post-abortion on the V50 and exchange this piece of scrap for a proper vehicle.
So past monday we bought an 2006 X-Trail 2.2DCi Columbia Edition.
To be short, best car ever! My back isn't aching, the dogs fit, the toddler and all necessities fit, it drives as supposed to, it accelerates fast if needed and the automatic switching 2wd/4wd is brilliant.
This car is a keeper and although 4x4 is overkill in The Netherlands, I'm sticking to this one.
Now looking for more enthusiasts and information about the "Monstertruck", as my 3y old son calls it.
Looking forward to reading all the posts and talking to you guys here.
We do have a slight different timezone, we are 9hrs behind Australia, but that won't be an issue =).
Best regards,
Paul
