LSD for x-trail

Hi everyone,
I've been searching through the forum for any form of aftermarket lsd conversion or diff out of another model vehical that might do the job. Have seen a lot of discussion about if we have or don't have a lsd in our vehicles, it would seem fairly obvious that there is no actual lsd front or rear in an x-trail. Someone did mention that maybe a murano rear lsd diff might fit but nothing more was said about it. I have found this on ebay

I think it maybe for the front diff because the number for what it fits seems to refer to the gearbox.
What do you all think?

Re: LSD for x-trail

Yes the RE4F04B is the front automatic 4wd transaxle assembly.
In a T30 it could offer a little help, though I would much prefer a rear diff locker since when climbing hills, most of the weight of the Xtrail and hence most of the traction will be towards the rear wheels.
It also could be expensive being a little over $500 just to land it here and then you have the labour costs to get it fitted.

Re: LSD for x-trail

Hey Kev, yes I agree with you a rear locker or lsd would be great and that convertion kit is a lot of money for what it is. But one thing I'm learning is everything I try to do to my exy is not easy or cheap, I've been sourcing things from all over the word, Ukraine, Russia, netherlands. It's hard work but some how satisfying at the same time 😄

Re: LSD

After this weekends drive, I'm not sure a LSD would do much. The car doesn't go slow enough in 1st gear to be a 'climber'. Show me any 4WD where someone engages the Diff Locks in HIGH range? I never have. And the only time the LSD in the back of my Pathfinder has "come into effect" is in LOW range.

Re: LSD for x-trail

Is this for the front diff ?
How does it fit with the 4WD pinion drive assembly ?
A member from the UK found an LSD for the front diff from another Nissan with the same auto transaxle as ours but never found out if it would fit into ours as it was originally from a FWD only version of the transaxle.
