Re: Engine noise?

This sounds exactly like what my new exy is doing.

The sound happens when accelerating from stopped or low speed and then goes away as soon as I'm doing over about 10kmh.

Did you end up changing the oil and did it make a difference?

Re:

Hi Brad,

In your case, I would check the engine and transmission mounts.

Hi Brad,
No, the noise is still there but it does accelerate better now.

Re: Re:

Will do, am I looking for wear / play. Or broken mounts?

I am servicing the car today and went with slightly thicker 10w40 semi syn to see if it makes any difference to the noise. I will update once done.

Leaking mounts. They're hydraulic/oil filled.

No worries, I just found an old thread on the front and back engine mounts. Are these all I need to check?

I might try and get a video tomorrow showing the sound etc. as I have now changed oil (Penrite 10w40 semi syn), oil filter and air filter.

There's a few things on the list of things to do, however am really wanting this noise gone before I start spending money on this one.

I understand where you're coming from here, I changed the plugs, oil & filter and air filter, front rotors and pads last weekend and I want to do a few extra jobs but not until this problem is sorted.

The sluggishnes I thought was gone but it's now intermittent, I don't know if it's a dodgy coil pack or something else emoticon

Re: Engine noise?

Have you watched your power transmission belt which drives the alternator, power steering and aircon compressor ?
To me it sounds like it is fluttering and would indicate a bad belt tensioner, especially since the noise is there when parked with no load on the engine.
