Re: PhotoBucket became a paid Photos Hosting Service

Yep. Just tried opening your thumbs again Kev. Thumbs still viewable but actual pic no longer visible. They now want me to update my account as well.

I can still view my thumb in actual size though.

cheers

Re: PhotoBucket became a paid Photos Hosting Service

Just tried adding a pic to Google Drive like Julie did back ,offset=27]here

With "Insert image"
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

and direct link
[url][sign in to see URL]

Neither shows the pic itself and the https link won't work in the avatar when I tried it.

Kev,
As mentioned by Jalal it is via photobusket.

In my Control Panel I looked at my Avatar location info and it is.............

Re: PhotoBucket became a paid Photos Hosting Service

When did you setup your photobucket account Dave ?
I ask because yours seems different to mine in a few things...

Your direct link starts with [sign in to see URL]
My direct link starts with [sign in to see URL]

Your direct link finishes with /[sign in to see URL]
My direct link finishes with /[sign in to see URL]

When I click on your link in the above post I go direct to your pic and also see all of the links to the right of the page.

Re: PhotoBucket became a paid Photos Hosting Service

Hi again Kevin.
The re-education must now begin.
I purchased my exy in August 2010. I joined the forum later that [sign in to see URL] in December 2010. The forum trip was in October 2011 if my memory is correct and the avatar pic is from that trip. So I guess it would have been soon after that trip that I used the pic for my avatar.
Other than that, I don't have any other ideas as to why my Avatar pic is able to be viewed on the forum whereas yours is not visible. Over to the IT gurus for that methinks.

Re:

Hi All

Thanks Kev for guiding me here.
Yes, my avatar and signature still on PB.
I use firefox, and PB is a nightmare of adverts, so the site is pretty much unreadable.

Anyone know how Shstevenson managed to work Dropbox? or are there restrictions on there too.

I can't really see PB backing down. Even if they lose a few million users, they probably won't notice it much.
(SkyMesh is currently doing something vaguely similar albeit in a comparatively miniscule way.)

Re: PhotoBucket became a paid Photos Hosting Service

The most important thing in finding another hosting site is the ability to link to thumbnails as this saves forum space in threads and makes for easier reading. Large pics in threads make scrolling through very tedious and most of the time the pics don't need to be seen by everyone who visits the thread.
Also, text links to pics are useless.
Being able to click a thumbnail to open a larger version of the pic is the greatest feature I think.

Jalal,
Just like we can embed a youtube link to a video, does runboard offer a way to embed google pics with the actual picture instead of just a text link ?

Re: PhotoBucket became a paid Photos Hosting Service

Kev,

It's not upto Runboard, as Google Photos only generates a link when shared and even if you add the [img] tag top it, it doesn't convert it to a pic, so it's a Google limitation.

YouTube is different and allows hot-linking.
