posticon Auto Select lever sticking in Park.

Has anybody come across a faulty microswitch in the Auto Select Lever ?
I believe it's the microswitch which engages when the lever is in park.
Mine's been diagnosed as causing this fault, but we're told the switch is only available by buying the complete selecting mechanism inside the centre console.
I'm wondering if this microswitch is available online somewhere?
Thanks in advance for any help if anyone's come across this fault before.

Re: Auto Select lever sticking in Park.

Hi Tony,

Can you clarify this for us please.
You say the auto select lever is sticking in Park. By that do you mean sometimes the lever will not release from the Park position to let you select reverse or drive ?

For your 2007 T30 there are interlocks from the ignition and brake pedal as well as the microswitch mentioned which lock the lever in Park.
Chances are that if the lever is sometimes sticking then either you could have a faulty brake pedal switch, or a connector which might need reseating or a faulty interlock solenoid for the selection lever and not just the microswitch itself.

Who diagnosed your fault and how ?

Re: Auto Select lever sticking in Park.

To clarify - my Xtrail is the 2007 T30.
Auto Electrician has diagnosed it, and eliminated the brake pedal interlock.
The park microswitch fault was verified in situ with test equipment connected to the microswitch terminals.
Have found website Carid.com, but specific detail description for that switch is elusive.
I'll keep looking.
Thanks.

Re: Auto Select lever sticking in Park.

I have seen this before.
Found that the micro switch metallic bar that actions it, gets bent over time to the point where it no longer pushes enough to switch.
Easy fix is bend the bar slightly such that it switches when in park.
A needle nose plier after removing the console is all you need. It is located in the mechanism at the base of the gear stick.

Thanks for that. Worth a try. Auto Electrician suggested it's an intermittent fault, but I'd still like to get my hands on a new switch - to be sure - to be sure !!

Sorted.
Got fed up and paid ($85 at the local Wreckers) for the Selector Mechanism including the relevant switch. No more Auto Select problems. Feeling better now.

05 X-Trail I had same problem took all the console apart and could see after a while the little micro switch wasn't engaging holding the locking pall on . I was using the red button to engage shifter went to wrecking yard got two $10 and replaced working fine. Take your time plastics very brittle. It's a small plunger two wire and connector. Back yard maintenance.
