Re:

a specialist must set the new odometer to meet your actual Km/miles. I
f you have a valid service book you don't need anything else.
Otherwise, I would propose that the procedure of removing old cluster, while the KM/Miles reading as still showing and the reprogramming of the new unit, should be recorded in video as proof for a future buyer that you did not tamper the mileage of the car

Re:

well that changes everything.

I can guarantee I dont have such a 'specialist' where I live, so that's the end of that. Shame, I was just about to pull the trigger on a new cluster.

Re:

well..thats a surprise! ... thanks for the link

I have made contact with the guy .. he admits he has never tampered with a 2011 X trail cluster but seems to know what eeprom it will likely be .... and confirms it will need to be on the bench for some soldering..

plus..he is in Manila ... and I am not. I am 12hrs by road from Manila .. so I shall probably fly down with the cluster in my luggage .... which of course adds to the cost rather ..return flight plus overnight ...

I am still tempted ... just getting clarification from the ebay ad about the cluster they have. Their pic is the correct late model,
but they list it as early 07-10 model. Waiting to hear back before I click the button..

Re: Re:

I can find the video from my case because the guy was kind enough to let me do it in his workshop under his commands!!! I will email you a link which might be helpful for your technician also.

Re: Re:

here are the two videos i made while preparing the cluster

https://youtu.be/UaAZTCzT4hA

https://youtu.be/yrk4265bQh4

in the videos you will see at some point where should wires be connected and also that he did the change by using the model nissan qashqai!
anyway it worked and those videos could be of help for your expert at Manila.

I hope everything works out for you

cheers

PS why don't you ship the cluster to the expert instead of traveling all the way there?

Re:

ahh nice... thanks for posting the vids ... they may well be useful.

as for shipping ... a quick trip down to Manila for a day or 2 of real life aint such a bad thing ... but I will.consider shipping it if I dont get chance..

Re: Re:

I know it is too much, I gave them 200 EUR also, but I didn’t trust myself to do it another way.
I have seen posts of people doing it wire by wire, manually with no plug, but I was afraid of short circuiting the car.
