How To Replace T30 Blower Motor Resistor

This is how to remove the blower motor resistor for my Automatic 2004 T30 X Trail.

Firstly, I had the issue of only being able to have fan speed of "4". Fan speeds of 1, 2, 3 were not working: Classic symptoms of a blown fan blower resistor. If you are having issues with your fan speeds, you may want to inspoect this module.

I ordered the new resistor through a local spare parts shop, and acquired the genuine nissan part for around $90.

I hope that this guide can help others out there to do this simple fix, as I had trouble establishing where exactly the resistor was - I had my whole dashboard apart at one point!

Disconnect the battery.

Firstly, start by removing the lower plastic panel, located underneath the glovebox compartment.

Then, locate the wiring leading to the resistor, mine was wrapped in foam, and lead to a dark orange clip-lock electrical socket. It is easily identifiable by it's shape. Mine was located on the white blower motor, far back against the firewall.

Carefully unclip the socket, and unscrew the resistor module securing screws, take note of the direction the module is facing. Mine was in with the clip extrusion facing upward.

Gently replace the resistor, be careful not to touch the printed circuit board. The module should gently click into place. Rescrew the two securing screws, make sure they are firmly secure, but try not to over tighten them, they only screw into plastic.

Reattach the wiring, it should click in securely.

Reconnect the battery.

That's it. You may want to turn you key to ACC, and flick through your fan speeds to check.

This is a photo of my old resistor. Pretty bad, huh?

And this is the package the resistor came in, may be useful for a part number.
