RHS indicator and hazard lights ????

Hi all.
Returning home today discovered right indicator not working.
At home checked left indicator works OK. Right indicator arrow blinks once only then nothing..
Hazard light switch blinks once then nothing.
Tomorrow I will check front and rear indicator bulbs if I can work out how to access them otherwise any hints as to what else could be wrong???

Hi Dave, I don't know if its the same problem here, but our trucks at work have done exactly the same thing and it turned out to be a faulty blinker unit. We replace the unit and its back to normal. Did you activate the hazard switch before the problem occured?

Hi Eric.
I didn't activate the hazard switch until after I got home and checked lights etc. It was on the way home that I noticed my right indicator wasn't working...i.e the green right indicator arrow was not blinking.
It was after I got home that I checked for right, left indicator and hazard light operation.

As stated left indicator no problems but right indicator and hazard operation not working.

I am currently checking posts and internet to to find out how to access rear indicator bulb to check if blown. Will do this tomorrow.

Hi Dave,

Make sure you do the electrical self test procedure before you go through the trouble of dismantling the rear tail lights assembly to get to the indicator bulb. See the guide HERE

If it turns out that the rear bulb is blow, remove the 2 bolts holding the tail light in place and yank the tail lights towards you grabbing from the very top. It's held in place by positioning pins and will be very hard to remove at first if you haven't done it before.

Ahhh Jalal......I should have read your reply first. Would have saved a little bit of time and effort this morning. Even though I am retired I am still up at first light while the other half keeps snoring away (don't tell her I said that).

Anyway, early this morning I managed to remove both tail light assemblies and indicator bulbs tested OK with multimeter. I swapped globes from right to left and the problem was still with the RHS indicator.

I then swapped both front indicator bulbs around but problem remained with RHS indicastor even though RHS bulbs flashed once only.
So, if I had tried the electrical self test first it should have indicated no problems with globes. I will try the test in due course to see what happens.

GOOD NEWS.........after testing globes OK I decided to check the trailer socket. All looked good but I tightened a few screws etc just in case and lo and behold when I checked indicator operation again all worked. Can only assume that something in the socket was amiss.

I put everything back together and now all's good.
