Exhaust jack (inflation bag);

Just picked up an exhaust jack to lift the x-trail up in case i get bellied in deep ruts or bogged in sand or mud.

Tested it out at home and there are a few things any prospective buyer of such a jack should know: the bag won't inflate unless there is a tight seal. The x-trail exhaust pipe is quite short and very angled, which means without modifying the system it doesn't have enough pressure.

I solved this problem by cutting off a bit of the rubber sleeve (which is too long anyway) and fashioning a rubber bung with electric tape that seals off the tailpipe. The sleeve then goes over this and hey presto up she goes.
