Re: T31 Air Conditioning Recall

Hello All

I just got a letter from Nissan headed Summer Proof Your Nissan X-Trail - Air Conditioner Repair Requirement.

.... a concern with the Air Conditioner Clutch Control that may result in poor performanc eof the airconditioner system in a number of Nissan X-Trail T31 vehicles. Our records show that your Nissan X-Trail T31 with VIN etc is affected.

Nissan will perform the required repair to your Nissan X-TRAIL T31 free of charge etc.

Can be done at any Nissan Dealership. If you have any queries ...Nissan Customer Service Centre 1800 035 035 and select Nissan Motor Company Option 2

I just called the service centre at my dealer and confirmed that this is the same as the compressor - apparently the Clutch Control is part of the compressor. Hopefully some of you will have received this letter too - or your vehicle is unaffected. Probably that phone number could confirm that for you if you don't receive this letter.

Interesting developments, I got the letter as well.

If it arrived a few days earlier we would have taken my car down to Brisbane instead of my brothers' for these past 5 days.
Now I will not be down there until the end of March at this rate when my next service is due.
Which is a bit past summer for the southern end of the country but not up here.

Re: T31 Air Conditioning Recall

G'day Possie,
Do you have a Service Campaign number on your paperwork?
My local (Canberra) dealer disavows ANY knowledge of the issue.

Re: T31 Air Conditioning Recall

Am I correct in assuming that this recall is only for the later model T31's? Does anyone know what year models this relates to?

Re:

I'm guessing this applies to 2011 Series 4 T31s, made somewhere in the first three quarters of the year.

According to Nissan Customer Care, VINs in scope are: JN1TANT31A0104716 to JN1TANT31A0108411.

The A/C in my wife's car just packed it in, and misses the recall by 43!

Re:

Hmmm strange.

My VIN is within the affected range yet the dealer didn't say anything when I have done the service last week.

My Ti has a production date of May 2011.

EDIT: I just called Nissan Customer Care and they said the VIN provided above is correct but not all of the vehicles in that range are affected by the recall, so mine is not impacted. They said all of the impacted vehicles would have received a letter by now.

Re:

The mind boggles! Ours was out of that range, but I suspect suffered the same issue emoticon

Maybe the Ti and ST-L models are different due to the climate control?

All fixed by my mechanic, but it did make me wonder emoticon

I've just phoned them too. My VIN falls within that range as well, but they've said my vehicle isn't affected. Strange.

Re:

Sep.'17 I also get a letter about this air con clutch recall. Call dealer and not aware but wanted the reference number which was next to name & address on letter. Then knew about the problem and booked in my 2013 T31 TL. I get a call that their is ANOTHER problem with air con. and do I authorise them to inspect which I told them "NO". Took to local mechanic and said it was low in gas only. My question is " Was this recall due to clutch and maybe gas leaking from compressor as it was working fine for so long". NEVER during services at Nissan did they say would you like us to check air con or was it part of warranty? If the loss of gas was from recall, they should have topped it up. OR, is this how they cover losses by creating additional faults so customer feel obligated to have other repairs done?
