T31 power outlets not working

I'm not getting power to either of the two 12v power outlets in the Xy. And before someone points out the obvious, yes, I have checked the power outlet fuses in the cabin!

I bought a Jaycar power point adaptor unit so I can run a Merrit plug LED light from the rear power outlet but no go. The adaptor works fine in my Patrol's lighter outlet but not the Xy

Anyone else had this problem? Any helpful suggestions appreciated...

Cheers
Michael

Re: T31 power outlets not working

Hi Michael,

Have you tried testing the Exy power outlets with anything other than the Jaycar adapter? Example, smart phone charger or something.

In some cases the adapter prongs are not deep enough for the Exy socket, so they don't connect properly to make contact.

Just a thought.

Re: T31 power outlets not working

Thanks Jalal - good suggestion.

However, it still doesn't resolve the issue that there is no power being delivered to either of the power outlets (I have checked them with a multimeter). Has anyone else had this problem?

The length of the adaptor prong could be a possible issue if the adaptor still didn't work when there was power available. If the adaptor prong works in the Patrol it should also work in the Xy. Mind you, the Patrol is 15 years old so it could have a different depth socket.

I might just have to wire in a seperate Merrit plug outlet!

Cheers
Michael

I believe there's another two fuse boxes under the bonnet, but I'm not sure if there is a fuse in one of them for the power outlets.

Re:

Hi Eirc,

As per the photos posted in THIS thread of the 2 fuse boxes in the engine bay, none of them have specific fuse for the power outlets. The fuses are inside the cabin I believe.

Hi Eric,

There is a connector on the rear of the socket which might have either fallen off or was not plugged in correctly. Remove the panel and check the connector is on.

Re:

Yeah Kev but both of the connectors falling off for both outlets is highly unlikely emoticon

I'll check the connections to each of the individual outlets as Kev has suggested - good to rule out any possible obvious causes (however unlikely) before resorting to an auto sparky!
