Driver's documents

I lived for years overseas, but soon returning to Qld.au and plan to buy a new X-trail.

I just wonder what documents Australian drivers have to possess to drive a new car?
As far I know it is:

1) A valid driving license
2) Council's registration
3) Technical revision record
???
Any concessions for age-pensioners?

Also, which is Australia's best comprehensive car insurance?

Thank you in advance for your good advice, Joh

Re: Driver's documents

Joh,
Registration procedures, pensioner concessions, licence requirements etc differ from State to State within Australia.

There are for example differences between Queensland (QLD) and New South Wales (NSW) with respect to concessions.
Needless to say, a valid driver's licence is required in all Australian States and Territories.
My suggestion to you is to use a search engine such as "Google" and type in QLD registration requirements" and "QLD driving licence requirements" etc.

Your Google query should display links to the main State Government sites associated with that query.

As for Comprehensive Insurance............there are so many providers that they almost outnumber the number of fgrum members.....ha ha.

Once again use google to ask about QLD Car Insurance Companies and use dummy car info to obtain non binding online quotes.

Other members may respond to you with more detailed information based on their knowledge and experience but in the meantime....good luck.

cheers

Re: Driver's documents

For driver's licence and vehicle registration, head to Department of Transport and Main Roads
Here's some info on concession vehicle registration

Comprehensive insurance is definitely a matter of opinion, situation, and shopping around!
I'm with Suncorp which is the only one I found even remotely affordable for me, being a 29yo male who has had a full licence less than 2 years emoticon
Haven't had to make a claim yet though.
