Petrol Leaking from Fuel tank - 2008 T31 - Fuel Sender Seal and Tank Cap

I recently bought a 2008 T31. I noticed a fuel smell and even worse just after filling up. I checked with Nissan Australia and the Sender Unit Seal was replaced on '09 when there was a recall.

Yesterday I had to replace both the seal and the fuel tank cap. The tank cap was apparently blocked and did not release any pressure from the tank causing the fuel to leak when it was hot and the pressure built up enough on a full tank.

According to Nissan Australia this was normal wear and tear and that is was just a normal cost of maintaining the car and that it was normal for it to wear out in only 6 years.

My mechanic asked if I used E10 and suggested that this is not good as it can accelerate the breakdown of some plastic components. E10 would also cause the engine to run at a higher temperature.
Cost of repair was $302.
