Cleaning the engine compartment

Xtrail 7 seater / NOT a 4WD

Nissan service centre told me that yo can hose the internal engine or anything inside the bonnet without causing any damage to your engine or electrical wirrings.

Why i ask was when i went for the free 1k service with FREE car wash, I notice when I went home that the engine compartment are wet... engine/ battery / radiators are all wet.

I was disappointed as it causes some marks when the water dried up. some are gone and evaporated when the engine was running/hot.

Is this true that you can hose all the engine? I was in the impression that are parts under the bonnet that should not get wet such as computerized/electronic parts.
