posticon Which tow bar

What have I done? Hello fellas, a female here and after reading a few questions and answers, I think I want to run away - on foot - leave the x-trail and van behind! Have recently bought a 2012 T31, petrol, auto and last week, a small Avan (Aliner). Am in the process of getting quotes to fit a tow bar and electric brakes. I refuse to pay the prices the Nissan dealer quoted (as expected really). So being a female who knows nothing except what she has been told, I need some advice. Notice only one person has mentioned Tag tow bars and the reason for him using it was that it had a longer neck than the Hayman Reece. Is this a good thing? (One of my quoters uses Tag, the others are all HR.)

Re:

Ring a couple of wreckers and see if you can find a 2nd hand one for $150 bucks or so. That's what I have done when I had a T30 and saved a fortune. The T31 genuine Nissan towbar was included with the car when I negotiated a deal on accessories. In any case, Hayman Reece and Nissan share the same manufacturing plant for the towbars.

Re: Which tow bar

Thanks, have decided to go for they Hayman Reece (not up to any more running around to wreckers). I asked about the 7 pin flat wire but was advised not needed - do not have to cut into bumper for wiring, attached to tow bar. Have also gone for Towpro electric brakes. Think I will need to do a 'shakedown' trip before I decide on anything else to see if I need it! So much stuff ... I am getting very nervous emoticon

Re:

I once bought a cheap tow bar and after a trip I noticed that the goose neck had bent.

I wasnt towing more than 500 kgs, a trailer, scared the hell out of me.

Only use Hayman reece now, never an issue
