P0235 Error Code
Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster (other than original post). Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I have a 2009 Dci X-Trail, that up until yesterday was working flawlessly. It has 267K KM on the clock and I bought it second hand with 247K. It hasn't missed a beat.
The day before yesterday, I refuelled at the local BP with Diesel and drove home without issue.
The following day on the drive to work car started normally and picked someone up on the way to work, upon entering a highway I noticed the vehicle would not rev over 3k and experienced a lack of power.
A mate at work had a diagnostics tool which brought up an error code P0235 - Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Malfunction.
Didn't have a lot of time to have a look yesterday, but today I removed the engine plastic cover, and unplugged the sensor, to check the contacts, all looked ok.
Started the engine and could rev past 3k. All good I thought closed the bonnet and went for a test drive, again couldn't rev past 3k. shut engine off and opened the bonnet, disconnected sensor again and would rev past 3k, however as soon as i shut the bonnet i can no longer rev past 3k and now the check engine light is on!
Doesn't seem to make sense? any suggestions on where to go to from here, Also fairly remote at the moment with no Nissan dealer within 300KM

Re: P0235 Error Code
Hi James,
It's common for sensors to go bust with age and the boost sensors of the diesel T31 has been known to cause issues as reported by other xtrail owners overseas.
You can download the troubleshooting guide for this sensor from HERE and see if you can get it to work again.
Personally, I would just replace it as it doesn't cost that much and can be easily changed by yourself.
Remove the engine cover and you will see the sensor directly in front of in the middle. It's held in by one bolt and has one electrical connection. It cost about $75 bucks or so and you can probably buy it online (eBay or something)

Re:
Wait and see how it goes but do that with a spare new sensor handy as the days are numbered for this one
