posticon Install of Elinz in dash GPS DVD stereo bluetooth with reverse camera

Hi
Finished the install of my new Elinz in dash radio, DVD, CD, GPS, Bluetooth with reversing camera. Install went well with the hardest part being the reverse camera as I had to remove a lot of trims and feed wires through the tailgate rubber boots. However all good and very pleased with the unit.

Have some photo's but having trouble posting them?

What model do you have?

I have been looking for a similar headunit that would fit my 2006 model.

Which head unit did you buy and hoe long did the install take?

Re: Install of Elinz in dash GPS DVD stereo bluetooth with reverse camera

Hi Jonny

I bought it from Elinz electronics here is a link to the unit I purchased http://www.elinz.com.au/buy/nissan-in-dash-car-gps-dvd-player-stereo-radio-nav/DTITANIUM-RVSMALL-NISH

It took around 6+ hours for the install mainly for the rear camera with removal of trims and running/concealing the necessary wiring.

I have a 2006 STS Extreme.

Hi Jonny

I purchased the harness and it does not fit and will not fit any Nissan X Trail ever made. The harness supplied is correct but you will need the Aerpro Nissan harness 1995 on. I bought mine from Super Cheap Auto for $15.95 and you won't require the antenna adapter as it is not needed for our vehicle model.

Re:

That sucks, you bought the harness and it turned out to be useless, did you complain about it?

Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna buy one of their units this week just haven't decided which one yet.

I may have to hit you up for some advice on removing trim when I install it!

Hi Jonny

Yes did complain and sent it back for a refund only problem is they make you pay for registered post $11.20.

The unit does work well though and it's good value for the money.

No worries giving you advice about trim removal, one of the best things I bought was a trim removal kit from auto barn, cost about $14 and made the job much easier.

Re:

I am installing a reversing camera at the moment (one that came with a new stereo that I am installing). I have no problems with the cabling and pulling up trim/kick plates etc,

however, I am stuck as to where to mount the camera itself. Where is the best place and how did you do it.

Thanks
Marc

Hi Marc,

It depends on the type of camera that came in the kit. Is it a number plate mount and is it X-Trail specific or just a universal one.

In any case, I think this question is best posted in THIS thread which does show a couple of the reversing cameras and where they have been mounted.
