Hi,
Did you ever find out what that part was? I'm having the same problem.

Re: Anyone know what a "Gearbox Attenuator" is??

I searched the Nissan Parts CDROM system and that term 'attenuator' is not used at all. If it is a part, Nissan call it something else. Sorry I am not familiar enough with automatic transmissions to think what it could be, but I would get it may have something to do with the fluid pressure, like a relief valve or pressure regulator? That's what an 'attenuator' does in the electronics world.

"An attenuator is an electronic device that reduces the power of a signal without appreciably distorting its waveform. An attenuator is effectively the opposite of an amplifier"
