Wandering T30 Auto tranny

Hey all! New to the forum, thanks for having me. emoticon

I have an intermittent problem that crops up randomly.
I will be driving along and all of a sudden my trans will not shift out of 1st gear. Doesn't matter what I do with the shift selector it will not shift. If I turn the car off and restart it goes away for a while.

Trans shifts beautifully when it is not misbehaving. This can happen once or several times a day.

Any ideas??

Re: Wandering T30 Auto tranny

Being a T30 I would expect there could be a slight blockage of the filter in the transmission occasionally so you might just need it to be flushed and refilled with fresh oil.
Does it happen when the tranny is cold or hot also ?

Re: Wandering T30 Auto tranny

It would seem to happen after the tranny has warmed up a little. It almost never happens when I have just used the vehicle for the first time.

Interestingly I noticed the Overdrive light flash on and off three times when I started the car yesterday

I doubt that's the correct code, so try it again.

Double checked it, 1574. That is the vehicle speed sensor. Not the one located on the axle. I think it bolts to the back of the engine case or tranny. Hard to tell by the diagram

Re:

How are you checking the ECU error code? The code you have provided is completely different from the standard error code for a speed sensor malfunction. Follow THIS procedure and count the number of flashes to determine the correct error code. I can't see how a speed sensor would cause the transmission to misbehave.

Re: Wandering T30 Auto tranny

That is the procedure that I followed.

I have done it three times, I get the same code each time.

I googled p1574 nissan xtrail to get the codes.

I double checked the codes on the link you gave me cooresppond to the ones here:

http://engine-codes.com/p1574_nissan.html

I downloaded the ESM for the X-trail and its codes are for "EURO-OBD".
This car was sold here in Mexico and there is a good chance the OBD codes are different?

Re:

Fair enough, it be a faulty TCM (Transmission Control Module) that is giving you this error code.

Re: Wandering T30 Auto tranny

The TCM is located in the passenger footwell?

Does anyone know where the Vehicle speed sensor is located? I cant find any data on that. I want to pull the connector and grease it with some di-electric grease.
