Fuel Filter Replacement Parts for T31 Petrol

Hi guys, I'm loathe to start a new thread for such a basic request but I couldn't find anything confirming this for sure. What is the part number for the T31 fuel filter? I have found 16400-2Y505 but am concerned its the T30 part. The local dealer here has said it's a combined unit with the pump for $750 which I'm sure isn't right. Can anyone confirm for me the proper part number for the T31? And if handy too, the part number of the rubber seal for the screw cap on the fuel tank? Thanks heaps.

Re:

That looks like a T30 fuel filter part number. The one for the T31 I think is this: 16400-JY09E

Check with the dealer.

Re: Fuel Filter Replacement Parts for T31

Thanks man, googling that part number shows what I think is the diesel part (mine is petrol). To make matters worse, the Ryco filter I ordered and bought doesn't look anything like my filter, but mine looks like the one posted in the thread re fixing the fuel gauge. Really got me puzzled.

I think I found the correct one HERE and yes, the part number I previously posted was for the Diesel T31 (sorry)

Re:

Which one exactly? I can only see two 2500cc engines listed there, only one has a filter listed, and the picture definitely doesn't look like mine. Sorry to be a pain, but this is really suprising me how hard it is to locate the right part for what should be a very simple process.

Just to be a bit more clear, the pic I am referring to which matches mine was posted by mrhox a while back, his pic is below:

Image

The Ryco filter and filters under the code 16400-2Y505 all have 4 clips, mine has 3, and they don't have the plastic bit showing in the pic here for the fuel gauge assembly.

I can't access the link I gave you from work, as the firewall is blocking it but the fuel filter that I found looked the same as the one in the photos but it was of aluminum construction (or silver in colour).

In any case, try putting your VIN chassis number into THIS Japanese parts finder website and see what you can find.

I think this is the first time we get a question about the T31 fuel filter replacement, so it's quite interesting to find out the right information which am sure will benefit many members in the future.

EDIT: Just done a bit more digging around and I found part number 17040JG00A which shows it as a combined fuel pump/filter assembly for the T31 petrol exy, which I believe is correct but instead of the quoted priced of over $750 bucks you got from the dealer, you can import it directly through Amayama Japan for around US$365 bucks (plus shipping)!

Re:

Ahhh man.....my Dad already visited the local Nissan dealer and pulled the trigger on the $750 job. I need it ASAP though so I'll have to live and learn, hopefully others can do the learning without the expensive living emoticon

I did find out a bit more though, Dad took down the actual filter, as well as my VIN and was told that some T31s have the fuel pump assembly that allows the filter to be replaced on it's own and others (unfortunately mine) cannot be replaced individually, it has to be bought as a complete unit. Once I get the part I'll make sure we take some pics before fitting and I can probably show some pics of the Ryco filter which is the cheaper and easier filter setup to illustrate the differences. Really appreciate that link though man, hopefully someone else can save some big dollars.

Re:

Sorry to hear that mate and I think the T31s that have a separate fuel filter are the 2WD ones with the 2.0LT engine.

If you can post photos, it'll be much appreciated.

As a side note, what prompted you to change the fuel filter in your T31? Have you reached 100,000kms already or was it a mechanic diagnostics that lead him to believe the fuel filter needs replacing?

Re:

Just in the last few months it's really started having a laggy/flat spot feel anywhere above 2K under load. After seeing the amount of silt/junk that came out of the filter I think it's probably the culprit (won't know for sure until I put in the new one). Mine has hit 150K though so if its the original filter its done a good job.
