I have to agree with everything Kev has talked about.

Spelling is the most common issue I've seen in this publication. Rookie mistake not running it through at least a word spell check.

Ads for non-related services (i guess they need to fill in pages for advertisers)

Ads for heavy duty 4WD gear that doesn't have ANY connection to SUVs.

I'd probably looking for more of a hybrid publication, along NRMA/RACVs publication for holiday destinations, some off-road touring, etc. I quite like Unsealed 4x4's direction. Although its aimed at 4x4s, its not a hardcore lifted truck, crazy bonnet deep creek crossings type of mag. It has useful reviews, products etc.

The problem has, and will be, is that SUVs are mainly seen as shopping trolleys carting kids around, not off-roaders.

The problem with generalising SUVs, is that on one side, we have the HRV/CRV style SUVs which would struggle getting through pot holes at the soccer field car park, but then you have our cars with lockable centre-diffs, foresters (previously with dual transfer case) and jeep Cherokee which has decent angles.

There is no minimum or maximum bench mark for off-roading within the classification; contrasted to the Colorado7/MUX etc. which are SUV like, but have been built as 4WDs and there's a basic expectation where cars in the 4WD segment can go, and publications can be built around that.

Thanks for your feedback.

Advertising will hopefully be changing to more SUV related items in the future.

Regards the travel side and off road touring, the magazine covers both those and many travel destinations throughout the country will feature in each issue. There will be different styles from moderate dirt tracks to proper off roading.

I guess the point in the magazine is to try show people that they aren't just shopping trolleys and can take everyone to a wide range of places and are very capable vehicles.

Re: Softroader Magazine

Don't be too fussed about paid ads if they are not situation specific.

At least they are paid ads and they help to pay for publishing as well as expanding the view of those who may be interested in whatever is offered.

Personally, I have learned to bypass advertisements in magazines. The shape and colour cues me to avert my gaze back to read the Article.

I also flick channels when ads are on and use Adblockers.

(Don't tell that to the advertisers or every Magazine and TV station will go broke.emoticon)

Thanks
